A Sketchy (pun?) Restart
After a protracted hiatus, here I am trying to get back to making regular offerings for the graphite gods. Feeling somewhat rusty. My muscle memory seems to have atrophied a little. :( Oh well, onwards and outwards...

DS Dump: Final Batches I
Oh, it's 2015 already. Hmm... Hopefully this will be the year I finally get back into regular pencil sketching. I do miss it.
For now, here's the first batch of odd DS sketches & speedpaints from the last two or three years that I never got around to posting initially, or finishing a series off, in some cases. It's time to wind down my aged DS and give it a decent retirement, rather than continue to hammer the poor thing until it finally gives out on me mid-paint.
For the last few months I've been trawling my SD card in an attempt to gather all the remnants of scribbles I considered interesting enough to cull, or render up a little more. Little batches, such as this one, will be posted throughout January.

Further Experiments In Animation Background Art
Another experiment inspired by anime background art. This one was a head scratch of layers and masks (something I have never used to any great degree) so various effects and animations could (theoretically) be added later. The car is a placeholder for future tests. Now all I need to do is drum up the cash, and the courage, to invest in a copy of Adobe After Effects. -_-
I might create a mini secondary blog if I pursue this kind of work further, as I'm not exactly comfortable posting these among my usual landscape scratchings.

Experiments
Here's a couple of test paintings I did for a personal project I've been mulling over in my head for a good few years now. The first painting ended up looking too much like there are 3D elements involved, but the second is closer to what I have in mind. Certainly inspired by anime background art.
