DS Dump: Final Batches I
Oh, it's 2015 already. Hmm... Hopefully this will be the year I finally get back into regular pencil sketching. I do miss it.
For now, here's the first batch of odd DS sketches & speedpaints from the last two or three years that I never got around to posting initially, or finishing a series off, in some cases. It's time to wind down my aged DS and give it a decent retirement, rather than continue to hammer the poor thing until it finally gives out on me mid-paint.
For the last few months I've been trawling my SD card in an attempt to gather all the remnants of scribbles I considered interesting enough to cull, or render up a little more. Little batches, such as this one, will be posted throughout January.

DS CCCXXXIII
Just posting something to acknowledge my lack of updates recently, and to say I'll be making a double effort to post regularly again soon enough. Got some sketchbook scanning to do. My thanks to those who expressed dismay at my laziness. I appreciate the kick up the butt. :)

I finally managed to dig out my sketchbooks and do some oldschool scribbling. It feels good to sharpen pencils again. :)

Film Studies
A few studies from Master and Commander. I really like the look of this film. It is full of great faces and wonderful cinematography.

Dateline Damascus

I've got a bunch of DS speedpaints of Damascus (my new favourite city) to sort through and, in some cases, work up a little further. Here's the first offering. More to follow...

Page One (...plus inner cover)

Of all the little pleasures I regularly enjoy in my life – like the feeling a fresh cool pillow on my cheek or the sound of unboiled rice being poured into a saucepan from a greater height than would seem necessary – the act of starting a new sketchbook is possibly one of the best. The only other “little pleasure” I can think of, off hand, that tops the feeling of putting down the first few scribbles in a brand new sketchbook, is the actual filling of said book.
My new pocket sketchbook has now been soiled. Let the good times roll on. :)

Project Sketches

At the moment I am working on a little fan project for the Dragonlance community which I hope to release as a 32 page .pdf document sometime in the new year. Many Dragonlance fans like to contribute new D&D gaming rules for monsters, spells, characters etc... I myself am not a gamer but I did enjoy reading all the old campaign sourcebooks when I was younger, so I figured I'd have a go at writing some fluff and expanding an area of the world which was only briefly touched upon in the official releases.
Obviously I don't want to be posting finished paintings for the project (at least not until the .pdf is released), but I figured the odd sketchbook page wouldn't hurt...
